Multi Level Marketing (also known as MLM) is when you are making sales and you are recruiting others to do the same thing you are doing and you'll get a % of their income. Not all MLM companies are scams, but the chances are if you are recruiting people to sell the same thing that you are selling, there are thousands more people out there doing it too and no one is making money.

If you think about it from a logical perspective, why would you want to recruit people to be your competitors? In order to make any money with an MLM you would have to make a lot of sales and you'll end up alienating your friends and family! Usually no one gets rich off of a MLM except its originator and a few people in his downline that are connected directly to him.

Basically the product is oversaturated or overpriced and hard to sell by the time it gets into your hands. Not all Multi Level Marketing companies are scandalous, but just be careful when choosing one for yourself.
